Satisfaction (1988) is an American comedy-drama film directed by Joan Freeman. Jennie Lee, lead singer of the all-girl Baltimore rock band, the Mystery, gives a valedictorian speech at her high school graduation while fellow band member and bass guitarist Daryle accepts a marriage proposal from her high school sweetheart, Frankie. The band is headed to Florida to audition for a summer nightclub gig but faces numerous challenges – Jennie’s brother opposes the trip since it could disrupt her college plans, their keyboardist has abruptly left the band, and their drummer Mooch has offended a gang member who destroys their van. Trying to salvage their opportunity, Jennie lies to her bandmates about borrowing a van from a friend when, in reality, she and guitarist Billie have stolen the gang member’s personal vehicle.
After enlisting the skills of a male keyboard player, Nicky, the band embarks on a journey south for their upcoming audition. Upon reaching the nightclub after closing time, they worry that they may have missed their chance. Determined not to have to make the trip again, they obtain the home address of owner Martin Falcon and decide to showcase their musical talents to him. However, upon arriving at his beach house, they discover he is not present. They do encounter Hamlet, Falcon’s beloved Doberman Pincher, and after serenading him with a tune, they quickly make friends with the canine. Eventually, Falcon returns inebriated and mistakes them for burglars. After clarifying their intentions, Jennie begs him to listen to their music but is informed that they have arrived a day early.
