Saw V (2008)

The horror film Saw V (2008), directed by David Hackl in his directorial debut, features a screenplay written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The story follows convicted killer Seth Baxter, who awakens chained to a table beneath a pendulum blade. Despite being told he can release himself, the blade still cuts him in half as someone watches through a hole in the wall. Meanwhile, FBI agent Peter Strahm manages to escape from the room where Detective Hoffman had locked him up. However, he is then attacked by a figure wearing a pig mask and wakes up with his head trapped inside a rapidly filling box of water. Outside, Hoffman hands over Corbett, the kidnapped daughter of Jeff, to the police and claims they are the only survivors. Fortunately for Strahm, he survives the attack through quick thinking and performs a tracheotomy using his pen. To everyone’s surprise, Strahm emerges alive from the ordeal, leaving Hoffman shocked.

After solving the Jigsaw case and earning a promotion, Hoffman discovers a concerning note in his office. As he investigates further, he learns of the death of Agent Lindsey Perez and comes across Strahm’s cell phone in police evidence. At the hospital, Strahm confronts Hoffman about his involvement and questions how he managed to escape the trap at the plant. Following this encounter, Strahm is placed on medical leave by their boss, Agent Dan Erickson. However, Strahm remains suspicious of Hoffman and takes it upon himself to investigate Jigsaw’s past victims by obtaining case files. Meanwhile, five individuals wake up with collars around their necks in an underground sewer, connected to blades mounted on the wall behind them by cables. The keys to their collars are located in separate glass boxes across the room.
