Saw VI (2009) is a horror film directed by Kevin Greutert and written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. As with its predecessors, the movie begins with a woman (portrayed by Tanedra Howard, winner of the reality show ‘Scream Queens’) waking up in a dimly lit room with a deadly trap on her head. This particular trap involves a headset with two bolts positioned at her temples, designed to penetrate her brain if triggered. In a separate area of the room, an overweight man also regains consciousness with the same device attached to his head. Despite the woman’s attempts to take control of the situation, the man unintentionally sets off Jigsaw’s iconic message on a nearby television screen. Jigsaw accuses both individuals of involvement in fraudulent practices within the medical insurance industry and directs their attention to a scale mounted between their respective locations separated by an impassable fence.
Upon arrival at Jill Tuck’s clinic, Hoffman requests five envelopes from the box left to her in John Kramer’s last request. The subjects in these photographs are participants in a game that centers around William Easton, a health insurance executive. William’s company has been known to deny coverage for necessary medical treatments, prompting him and his associates to be abducted by Hoffman and taken to an abandoned zoo. Here, William and his janitor Hank are faced with a terrifying challenge – they must wear oxygen masks attached to large metal vises that will crush their bodies each time they take a breath. Tragically, Hank does not survive the test. William continues on with three more challenges, each one designed to release a bomb shackle from his limbs. In the second test, which takes place at an aquarium, William must choose between saving his middle-aged secretary Addy or his file clerk Allen, who is hanging from a barbed-wire noose.
