Scream 2 (1997)

Scream 2 (1997) is an American slasher film directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. It follows two Windsor College seniors, Maureen Evans and Phil Stevens, who attend a sneak preview of Stab, a film based on the Woodsboro massacre. While briefly leaving the theater to use the bathroom, Phil falls victim to Ghostface, the masked killer. Ghostface then takes Phil’s seat next to Maureen and repeatedly stabs her without anyone in the raucous crowd noticing. As Maureen climbs up on stage for help, mistaking her cries for publicity, she tragically succumbs to her injuries. The news media, including journalist Debbie Salt, swarm Windsor College where Sidney Prescott attends as a student with her roommate Hallie McDaniel, new boyfriend Derek Feldman, fellow Woodsboro survivor Randy Meeks and Derek’s best friend Mickey Altieri.

Two more survivors from Woodsboro appear: Dewey Riley, a police officer offering protection to Sidney, and Gale Weathers, a reporter covering the case. Gale and her new cameraman, Joel Jones, attempt to orchestrate a confrontation between Sidney and Cotton Weary, who was recently cleared of the rape and murder of Sidney’s mother, Maureen Prescott. That night, Sidney and Hallie attend a party at Delta Lambda Zeta sorority house. At Omega Beta Zeta, another nearby sorority house, Ghostface kills student Cici Cooper. After the party guests leave to see the crime scene, Ghostface enters Delta Lambda Zeta and attacks Sidney. Derek is injured in the struggle but Ghostface escapes when the police arrive. Later on, after realizing that Cici is short for Casey, Gale speculates that the new Ghostface is targeting students with names similar to those previously murdered in Woodsboro.
