Scream 3 (2000)

Scream 3 (2000), an American slasher film, was directed by Wes Craven and written by Ehren Kruger. In the movie, Cotton Weary, now the host of a successful talk show, receives a call from the newest Ghostface killer, who demands to know where Sidney Prescott is. Despite being threatened, Cotton refuses to reveal any information. However, this only angers Ghostface who then breaks into Cotton’s home and attacks his girlfriend Christine. Upon hearing of this attack, Cotton rushes home but tragically arrives too late as Ghostface has already killed Christine and then turns his attention to Cotton himself. Following these murders, Detective Mark Kincaid contacts Gale Weathers for her insight on the case. She decides to head to Hollywood where she discovers Dewey Riley working as an adviser on Stab 3 – the third installment in the series based on the Ghostface murders. It is during her time in Hollywood that she learns of another tragic death – actress Sarah Darling from Stab 3 has been killed by Ghostface which leads to production being halted.

The remaining members of the cast, including Dewey and Gale, gather at Jennifer Jolie’s home. She is the actress portraying Gale in Stab 3. During this gathering, Ghostface appears and kills Jennifer’s bodyguard. By causing a gas leak and triggering an explosion, Ghostface also ends up taking the life of actor Tom Prinze. Meanwhile, Sidney has been living in seclusion as a crisis counselor for an abused women’s hotline. She is afraid that another killer may target her next. However, when the killer reveals that they know her whereabouts and begins taunting her over the phone with Maureen Prescott’s voice (Sidney’s deceased mother), she is forced to come out of hiding and travel to Hollywood. While there, Martha Meeks (the sister of Sidney’s murdered friend Randy) arrives with a videotape that Randy made before his death. In it, he warns them that the rules of a horror film do not apply in the final installment of a trilogy and that anyone could die – including Sidney herself.
