Scream: The TV Series(2015–2019), a popular American anthology slasher TV series, was developed by Jill Blotevogel, Dan Dworkin, and Jay Beattie for MTV and Brett Matthews for VH1. Inspired by the film series of the same name created by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven, the show is produced by Dimension Television and MTV Production Development. Though originally filmed in Louisiana – specifically Baton Rouge and New Orleans – production has since relocated. Initial showrunners Blotevogel and Jaime Paglia were replaced by Michael Gans and Richard Register in season two due to creative differences. In early June 2015, an official promotional image revealed a new version of the iconic mask featured in the show. While Craven initially expressed admiration for the redesign and hinted at its role in the plot, he later criticized the network’s decision to move away from the original Ghostface mask (which had been discussed for use in the first two seasons). Ultimately, MTV struck a deal with Fun World to secure licensing rights to continue using the Ghostface mask.
The initial two seasons take place in the made-up town of Lakewood, Colorado and revolve around Emma Duval, a teen with connections to the town’s gruesome history. As the present-day murders escalate and Emma becomes the killer’s primary target, she must navigate dangerous situations involving her loved ones. Determined to uncover the town’s enigmas and reveal the identity of the Lakewood Slasher, she races against time. In season three, Deion Elliot, a local football star in Atlanta haunted by his tragic past, is terrorized by Ghostface who uses his deepest secrets against him. With his future and the lives of those close to him at stake, Deion faces a desperate race to stop the notorious and infamous killer from claiming more victims.
