Seven Pounds (2008) is a film, directed by Gabriele Muccino and starring Will Smith. It follows the story of Tim Thomas, a man who becomes responsible for the deaths of seven people in a car accident while driving and texting. Among the victims were six strangers and his fiancee, Sarah Jenson. Unable to bear the weight of his guilt, Tim makes it his mission to save the lives of seven deserving individuals as a way to seek redemption. He begins by leaving his job as an aeronautical engineer and donating part of his liver to Holly, who works in social services. He then continues searching for other candidates and eventually donates a lung lobe to his brother Ben, an IRS employee; a kidney to George, a junior hockey coach; and bone marrow to Nicholas, a young boy. Seeking more individuals in need of help, Tim turns to Holly again who suggests Connie Tepos, a woman living with an abusive boyfriend. He gives her his contact information in case she ever needs his assistance.
After moving out of his house and into a local motel with his pet box jellyfish, Tim receives a call from Connie one night. She reveals that she has been physically abused and Tim decides to give her the keys and deed to his beach house. Taking her two children with her, Connie moves into their new home. Using his brother’s credentials, Tim goes by the name Ben as he searches for potential candidates for his final donations. One candidate is Ezra Turner, a blind meat salesman and pianist. To test his temperament, Tim calls Ezra at work and provokes him but finds that he remains calm, making him a suitable candidate in Tim’s eyes. The other candidate is Emily Posa, a self-employed greeting card printer who has a heart condition and rare blood type. While helping her with chores around her home, including fixing her Heidelberg Windmill press, Tim develops feelings for her.
