Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023), an American superhero film based on the DC character Shazam, follows four years after Thaddeus Sivana’s defeat. The daughters of the Titan Atlas, Hespera and Kalypso, enter the Acropolis Museum in Athens, Greece to steal the broken staff of the Wizard. They bring it to the imprisoned Wizard in the Gods’ Realm and force him to repair it, reactivating its powers. Meanwhile in Philadelphia, Billy Batson and his “Shazamily” are growing apart as they each focus on their own interests. As Billy approaches his eighteenth birthday, he worries about being kicked out of the Vasquez family. In a dream, the Wizard warns Billy about the Daughters of Atlas, leading the Shazamily to research them. Freddy Freeman introduces himself to Anne, a new girl he has met, but when Hespera and Kalypso steal Freddy’s powers using the staff, it is revealed that Anne is actually their younger sister Anthea.

Billy and the Shazamily work together to rescue Freddy from the daughters who have imprisoned him in an indestructible dome surrounding the city. This leads to Freddy’s imprisonment with the Wizard in the Gods’ Realm. Inside the Rock of Eternity, they encounter a sentient pen called Steve, which they utilize to write a letter for negotiating with Hespera for Freddy’s release. Billy arranges to meet Hespera at a nearby restaurant and while their initial interaction seems friendly, things quickly escalate when she and Kalypso attack the Shazamily. During the confrontation, Pedro loses his powers and Hespera is captured and taken back to the Rock. However, this was all part of her plan as she easily escapes her captors and steals the Golden Apple – an important seed from the Tree of Life. Meanwhile, with help from sympathetic Anthea, Freddy and the Wizard try to escape from the Gods’ Realm at the same time that Hespera returns with the stolen Apple.
