Sherlock Gnomes (2018)

Sherlock Gnomes (2018) is a mystery comedy directed by John Stevenson, and based on the beloved character Sherlock Holmes created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Serving as a sequel to Gnomeo & Juliet (2011), it sees Sherlock, along with his trusted companion Dr. Watson, taking on their arch-nemesis Moriarty at London’s Natural History Museum. In a thrilling battle, Moriarty is seemingly defeated by a dinosaur skeleton. As the plot unfolds, Miss Montague, Mr Capulet and their gnomes relocate from Stratford-upon-Avon to a rundown garden in London. Lady Bluebury and Lord Redbrick retire and appoint Gnomeo & Juliet as the new leaders. Meanwhile, Sherlock and Watson find themselves fighting inside the house until Mrs Udderson tells them to take it outside. Amidst all this chaos, the couple’s relationship begins to suffer as Juliet becomes solely focused on fixing up the new garden, unintentionally neglecting Gnomeo. In an attempt to win her attention back, Gnomeo decides to obtain a Cupid’s Arrow orchid for the garden with help from Benny and an old computer that locates the nearest flower shop in town.

After Gnomeo acquires the orchid from the shop, a falling stall triggers the burglar alarm and forces Juliet to come to his rescue. Amidst their heated argument afterwards, Juliet scolds Gnomeo for prioritizing their personal issues over the needs of the garden. As they argue, Benny’s walkie-talkie crackles with news of a monster sighting in their garden. With the help of Watson’s map, Sherlock Gnomes sets out to locate and protect all the gnomes in London. However, upon their return, they discover that everyone has vanished. In a stroke of luck, Sherlock Gnomes and Watson show up and uncover a clue card. Desperate for answers, Juliet and Gnomeo insist on accompanying them, despite Sherlock’s initial reluctance. The clue points them towards Chinatown where they embark on a search for Moriarty – whom Sherlock suspects is still alive after their previous encounter. Curly Fu’s Emporium leads them to their next clue where they also encounter Salt Shaker and PomPom – along with some angry guards who bear an uncanny resemblance to black cats that Sherlock had offended before.
