Shrek the Third (2007)

Shrek the Third (2007) is an animated comedy film based on William Steig’s popular children’s book, Shrek!. After King Harold falls ill, Shrek and Princess Fiona are expected to take over the throne. However, Shrek quickly realizes that being a ruler is not his cup of tea. Before he passes away, Harold tells Shrek about another potential heir – his nephew and Fiona’s cousin, Arthur ‘Artie’ Pendragon. Meanwhile, Prince Charming is determined to seek revenge for his mother’s death and become the new king. He rallies the other fairy tale villains at the Poison Apple tavern to join him in his quest. To retrieve Artie, Shrek teams up with Donkey and Puss in Boots and sets sail. On their journey, Fiona surprises Shrek by announcing that she is pregnant. This news worries Shrek as he doubts his ability to be a good father. The trio eventually arrives at Worcestershire Academy, a prestigious magical school where they meet Artie – a scrawny and outcast 16-year-old.

At the pep rally, Shrek informs Artie that he has been selected as the new king of Far Far Away. Initially thrilled by the news, Artie’s excitement fades as Donkey and Puss unintentionally overwhelm him with talk of the king’s duties. As a result, Artie becomes apprehensive and takes over the ship in an attempt to sail back to Worcestershire. In the midst of a scuffle with Shrek, the ship crashes on a deserted island where they come across Merlin, Artie’s former magic instructor. Meanwhile, Fiona and Queen Lillian are busy hosting a baby shower when Charming and his army of villains attack the castle. Luckily, Gingy, Pinocchio, the Big Bad Wolf, and Three Little Pigs bravely delay Charming’s forces while the women flee. However, one slip-up from a pig reveals that Shrek is off searching for Artie, prompting Charming to dispatch Captain Hook and his pirates on their trail.
