Silent Hill (2006) is a horror flick helmed by director Christophe Gans and penned by writer Roger Avary. The film is based on the video game series of the same name from Konami. Rose Da Silva and her spouse Christopher are troubled by their adopted daughter Sharon’s frequent sleepwalking and disturbing nightmares about Silent Hill, a deserted town in West Virginia that was abandoned decades ago due to a raging coal fire. In search of answers, Rose takes Sharon on a journey to Silent Hill, but their encounter with police officer Cybil Bennett at a gas station raises concerns about Rose’s erratic behavior. As they make their way into the town, a girl unexpectedly appears in front of their car, causing Rose to lose control and blackout. When she regains consciousness, she finds herself in the eerie dimension of Silent Hill and realizes that Sharon is missing.

As Rose searched the town for Sharon, she kept an eye out for the girl who reminded her of Sharon. However, the peaceful town would suddenly transform into a terrifying realm, infested with monstrous beings like Pyramid Head. At one point, Cybil caught up to Rose and attempted to arrest her, but they soon realized they were both stuck in the town with no way out. As Rose encountered more frightening creatures, she also learned about Alessa Gillespie – a young girl burned as a witch by the extreme religious group known as the Brethren. Alessa’s mother Dahlia roamed the streets alone, consumed by guilt for not protecting her daughter from harm. Meanwhile, Christopher and policeman Thomas Gucci scoured the empty town but found nothing – just a deserted place without any fog or monsters.
