Silverado (1985)

Silverado (1985) is an American Western film, produced and directed by Lawrence Kasdan and written by both Kasdan brothers. While resting in a remote shack, the cowboy Emmett is surprised by three armed men who he ultimately defeats, gaining possession of a horse. His next plan is to meet up with his brother Jake in Turley before visiting their sister Kate in Silverado, then continuing on to California. On the journey to Turley, Emmett comes across Paden, who is stranded in the desert and robbed of all his belongings. Emmett offers Paden one of his extra horses and they ride together to Turley. At a cavalry outpost, Paden recognizes the man who robbed him and quickly buys a gun using money borrowed from Emmett. In the ensuing confrontation, Paden successfully defends himself with a fatal shot.
Running into his old acquaintance Cobb, who was once a criminal, Paden receives financial help to buy new clothes. Cobb also offers him a job opportunity, but Paden politely declines. Later on, while dining at a saloon in Turley, Paden and Emmett witness a black cowboy named Mal being targeted by some men, including the bigoted saloon owner. Defending himself against their aggression, Mal is then ordered to leave town by Sheriff Langston. Upon speaking with Langston, Paden and Emmett discover that Jake is scheduled for execution the next day on murder charges. While Emmett plans to rescue his brother from jail, Paden makes it clear that he cannot get involved. arrests Paden and locks him up in Jake’s cell.
