Six Days Seven Nights (1998)
The film, Six Days, Seven Nights (1998), directed by Ivan Reitman, follows the story of Robin Monroe and her boyfriend Frank as they vacation in the South Pacific island of Makatea. They are joined by middle-aged American pilot Quinn Harris and his girlfriend Angelica on their journey to the island. On their first night there, Frank proposes to Robin but later a drunken Quinn mistakes her for someone else and makes a pass at her. Despite this awkward encounter, Robin’s boss Marjorie calls the next morning and asks her to oversee a fashion shoot in Tahiti. In need of transportation, Robin enlists Quinn’s services. However, while flying to Tahiti they encounter unexpected weather conditions and are forced to turn back to Makatea.
During a lightning storm, the plane is struck, causing damage to both the transmitter and radio. As a result, Quinn is forced to make an emergency landing on a nearby deserted island. However, during the landing, the plane collides with a large rock, damaging the landing gear. The next day, Frank and Angelica join in on an aerial search for their missing partners. Quinn and Robin notice what they believe to be a signal beacon on the island and decide to disable it in hopes of attracting help to repair the damaged plane. However, upon reaching the top of a high hill, they realize that this is actually a different island. While surveying their surroundings through binoculars, Quinn witnesses a gruesome murder and realizes that a group of pirates are also present on another boat.
