Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017)

Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017) is a film based on the beloved comic series by Peyo. Produced by Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, and The Kerner Entertainment Company, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, this delightful animated fantasy takes audiences on an adventure with the lovable Smurfs who live in their peaceful village. Among them is Smurfette, created by the evil wizard Gargamel but redeemed by Papa Smurf. Despite her acceptance into the village, she struggles to find her purpose in life as the other Smurfs have. Meanwhile, Gargamel has his sights set on capturing the Smurfs and stealing their essence to become the most powerful wizard. During a smurfboarding excursion, Smurfette discovers a hidden creature and is captured by Gargamel. But with help from her friends Hefty, Brainy, and Clumsy, they manage to escape back to their village. However, when they try to warn Papa Smurf about Gargamel’s plans, he punishes them for nearly disobeying his orders. Undeterred, Smurfette sets out that night with Brainy and Clumsy to find the lost village with support from Hefty.

Gargamel discovers the group searching for the village and sets off with Azrael and Monty to stop them. As they follow the map, they encounter strange creatures, including fire-breathing dragonflies that Gargamel instigates to attack the Smurfs. The four manage to escape a maze of caves with the help of a stampede of glowing green rabbits. Eventually, they reach a river where they sail on a raft that they made themselves. After a brief pursuit, Gargamel is ejected from his own raft and the Smurfs rescue him. However, instead of showing gratitude, he pushes them out of their raft and they plummet down a waterfall. The four are then captured by leaf-covered beings who turn out to be female Smurfs. They are taken to Smurfy Grove where they meet their fellow Smurfs Blossom, Storm, Lily, Melody, and their leader Willow who all warmly welcome them. Storm and Clumsy venture away from the village in search of Gargamel to inform the others.
