Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)

In the American fantasy film, Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), based on the German fairy tale Snow White by the Brothers Grimm, Queen Eleanor of Tabor pricks her finger while admiring a bright red rose blooming in a white winter. Three drops of blood fall onto the snow and she makes a wish for a daughter with specific physical attributes and a strong heart. As predicted, Snow White is born but unfortunately, the queen passes away many years later. Following her death, King Magnus and his army engage in a battle against glass soldiers from an invading army. During this time, King Magnus becomes captivated by Ravenna’s beauty and hastily marries her after finding her as a prisoner. Ravenna, a powerful sorceress, deceived the kingdom by using her false glass army.

After marrying King Magnus, she reveals her past with another king who had used and betrayed her. Ravenna proceeds to kill Magnus and takes control of the kingdom. Sadly, Snow White’s childhood friend William and his father, Duke Hammond, are unable to save her from being locked in a tower for many years. As Queen, Ravenna’s reign causes Tabor and its people to deteriorate. In order to maintain her youth and beauty as a result of a spell cast by her mother in childhood, Ravenna regularly drains the life force of young women in the kingdom. However, when Snow White comes of age, Ravenna’s Magic Mirror reveals that only by consuming the girl’s heart can she remain immortal as Snow White is destined to be her downfall.
