Despite being hesitant, FBI special agent Joe Merriwether reaches out to Clancy for assistance in tracking down a serial killer with intricate methods. When Merriwether’s partner, Katherine Cowles, touches Clancy’s shoulder while presenting him with the case files, he has a vision of her future involving violence and bloodshed on her forehead. Despite initial reluctance, Clancy eventually agrees to help. Though initially skeptical of his abilities, FBI special agent Cowles becomes convinced when it becomes clear that the victims were all terminally ill.
Clancy comes to the realization that the killer’s abilities surpass his own. In a turn of events, the suspect shoots Merriwether before confessing to having been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Shortly after Merriwether’s funeral, the killer approaches Clancy and reveals his twisted reasoning for sparing his victims from a slow death. He also takes credit for orchestrating Merriwether’s demise. With a boastful air, he claims to have foreseen all possible outcomes of their encounter, but Clancy catches him off guard. Despite this, the killer manages to evade capture by creating a diversion and falsely accusing Clancy of being armed. Cowles uncovers the true identity of the murderer as Charles Ambrose. As a result, Clancy is pushed to push his own abilities to their limits in order to stop Ambrose from poisoning another victim.
