Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)

The highly anticipated 2022 release, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022), continues the thrilling story of our beloved Sega video game character. In this action-packed adventure comedy, Sonic teams up once again with Tom and Maddie to take down Doctor Robotnik, who has returned with vengeance. Despite his failure as a vigilante-hero, Sonic remains optimistic until he receives unexpected help from Knuckles – an anthropomorphic teenage warrior red echidna and the last of his kind. With a bitter grudge against Sonic, Knuckles seeks to reclaim the Master Emerald, a powerful relic that grants its owner unimaginable abilities. As Sonic plans for a relaxing day at home, he soon finds himself battling for survival against their powerful enemy.

Sonic is saved by Miles “Tails” Prower, a two-tailed anthropomorphic fox who greatly admires him and comes to warn about Knuckles. Sonic convinces Tails to join him in searching for the Master Emerald, while Robotnik reunites with Stone and cleverly offers to assist Knuckles in stealing it. Amidst their journey, Sonic and Tails rely on clues from a map gifted by Longclaw before she sent Sonic to Earth. The trail leads them to an old temple in Siberia, where they discover a compass. As they make their way down the mountain, Robotnik and Knuckles catch up and wearily pursue them. In a surprising moment of understanding, Knuckles shares that he too experienced loss when his father and tribe were taken on the same day as Longclaw’s passing. However, this brief connection is short-lived as Knuckles joins Robotnik in snatching away the sought-after compass. Yet, doubts begin to arise for Knuckles as he questions Robotnik’s true loyalty and mocks Sonic for valuing Tails’ safety over the compass.
