Written and directed by Trey Parker, South Park: Post Covid (2021) is an adult animated comedy TV special episode. Premiering on November 25, it is the first of a series of specials for the streaming service Paramount+. Taking place in the future where the COVID-19 pandemic is dwindling, Stan Marsh has left his hometown of South Park, Colorado. He now works as an online whiskey consultant and cohabitates with an opinionated Amazon Alexa. One day, Kyle Broflovski, who is now the guidance counselor at South Park Elementary, calls Stan to inform him of Kenny McCormick’s passing. As a scientist researching the origins and cure of COVID-19, Kenny had made plans for his data to be found in case of his death by retracing their steps.
Upon his return to South Park, Stan pays a tribute to Kenny while distancing himself from Kyle. He declines Kyle’s proposal to help locate Kenny’s missing data. Together, they attend Kenny’s wake and catch up with their old classmates. Among the group is Cartman, who has embraced Judaism and is now a rabbi with a family, much to Kyle’s disbelief. The gathering also includes Tweek and Craig as a couple, Wendy and her spouse Darwin, Jimmy as a late-night talk show host, Token as a law enforcement officer, and Clyde. However, Stan departs early but later hears about “Tegridy Weed” being mentioned in Kenny’s notes during a news report on him.
