Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams (2002) is an American spy action comedy film that was both co-produced and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Siblings Carmen and Juni Cortez are now full-time agents for the OSS’ recently established Spy Kids Division. Their main competition comes from Donnagon Giggles’ children, Gary and Gerti. During a mission to rescue the president’s daughter, Alexandra, the Giggles siblings outshine Carmen and Juni. While defending Gary, Carmen’s actions drive a wedge between her and Juni. At the OSS awards ceremony, Donnagon manipulates the president’s teleprompter and takes over as director of the agency instead of Gregorio Cortez. Shortly after, a group called the ‘Magna Men’ incapacitate all of the adults, including Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez, in pursuit of the ‘Transmooker’ – a powerful device that can disable all electronic devices.
During a struggle with the Magna Men, Gary causes Juni to drop the Transmooker, allowing them to steal it. Blaming Juni for their failure, Gary gets him fired from the OSS. After accomplishing the task of restoring Juni’s agent status and reassigning them to retrieve the Transmooker, which had initially been given to Gary and Gerti, Carmen hacks into the database. During their mission, they come across a mysterious island where all electronic devices are rendered useless. Meanwhile, Gary and Gerti are rerouted to the Gobi Desert and while trying to determine their location, they accidentally fall into a pit of camel feces. This unfortunate incident fuels their desire for vengeance against the Cortez family. As Carmen and Juni reach the island, they encounter Romero, a scientist attempting to create miniaturized hybrid animals for profit.
