Star Trek: Enterprise (2001–2005), initially known as Enterprise in its first two seasons, is an American sci-fi TV show brought to life by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga. It aired from September 26, 2001 to May 13, 2005 on the United Paramount Network (UPN). The sixth installment in the Star Trek series, it serves as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Set a hundred years before the events of The Original Series in the 22nd century, it follows the journey of Earth’s first warp five starship, the Enterprise, as it explores uncharted regions of space and encounters diverse alien races. Upon completion of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and with Star Trek: Voyager coming to an end, Paramount enlisted Braga and Berman to create a new series for the franchise. Instead of placing it alongside Deep Space Nine and Voyager in the 24th century, they opted for an earlier era to delve into uncharted territories of the Star Trek universe.
In the year 2151, after 88 years of learning from their alien allies, the Vulcans, Earth is ready to embark on a journey into deep space. Led by Captain Jonathan Archer, the crew of the Enterprise will finally have the chance to explore beyond our solar system. It has been a long time coming – since their first contact with the Vulcans and invention of warp drive a century ago, humans have been held back by their mentors. However, an incident with the Tsuliban in their maiden voyage at warp speed changes everything. Throughout their adventures, Captain Archer must face various challenges such as battles with hostile aliens and navigating alternate universes and time travel without transporter technology. Despite these obstacles, he demonstrates exceptional leadership skills and gains the loyalty of his diverse crew including communications officer Hoshi, chief engineer Trip, armory officer Malcolm, ensign Travis, alien doctor Phlox and Vulcan Sub Commander T’Pol – who was assigned to keep an eye on him.
