Star Trek Into Darkness (2013)

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) is a sci-fi action film directed by J.J. Abrams and written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof. As the twelfth installment in the Star Trek franchise, it serves as a sequel to the 2009 film and the second entry in a rebooted series. In the year 2259, Captain James T. Kirk’s command of the USS Enterprise is revoked after he ignores protocol by exposing the ship to primitive beings on Nibiru to save them from a volcanic disaster, leading to his demotion to first officer. Meanwhile, Spock is reassigned to another vessel. Shortly after, Thomas Harewood, under orders from Commander John Harrison, attacks a Section 31 base in London. In response to this crisis, Harrison surprises and eliminates Admiral Christopher Pike and other high-ranking officers before fleeing to Kronos, home of the hostile Klingons.

After Admiral Alexander Marcus reinstates Kirk and Spock to the Enterprise and orders them to use a new long-range stealth torpedo to take down Harrison, Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott expresses concern about allowing untested weapons on board without knowing their specifications. Despite his objections, he is overruled and decides to resign from his position. In light of Scotty’s departure, Kirk assigns Pavel Chekov to take his place. However, during the journey towards Kronos, the ship’s warp capabilities become disabled. Determined to complete their mission, Kirk leads a team consisting of Spock and Uhura to the planet’s surface where they are suddenly ambushed by Klingon patrols. Just as things seem dire, Harrison makes a surprising entrance and eliminates the enemy forces. But when he learns about the precise number of torpedoes on board the Enterprise, he surrenders unexpectedly.
