Star Trek: Voyager (1995–2001), an American science fiction television series, was brought to life by the minds of Rick Berman, Michael Piller, and Jeri Taylor. Originally airing on UPN from 1995 to 2001, it ran for seven seasons with a total of 172 episodes. As the franchise’s fifth installment, this show is set in the 24th century and follows the journey of the USS Voyager, a Starfleet vessel trying to return home to the Alpha Quadrant. Stranded in the Delta Quadrant at the far edge of the Milky Way galaxy, Voyager faced many obstacles on its quest. Being located in a different part of the galaxy allowed writers to introduce new recurring alien species such as the Kazon, Vidiians, Hirogen, and Species 8472. Later on, The Borg- first appearing in The Next Generation- were introduced as the main antagonists. Alongside its television run were episode adaptations and tie-in games; once it concluded, novels carried on with the story.
While pursuing a band of Maquis rebels, the Federation starship USS Voyager enters the treacherous space nebula, known as the Badlands. Unexpectedly, both ships are transported by a distant space probe to the Delta Quadrant, an astounding 75,000 light-years away from Federation space. In order to rescue their kidnapped crew members from the powerful and dying Caretaker – who built the probe – Voyager’s crew must form an uneasy truce with their Maquis counterparts. Tragically, during a battle with the aggressive Kazons, the Maquis vessel is destroyed. In order to protect an innocent planet from Kazon aggression, Voyager ultimately chooses to destroy the space probe. This leaves them stranded in the Delta Quadrant for 75 years before they can return home to Federation space. However, despite their initial differences, time and distance have rendered them meaningless as both crews come together onboard Voyager. Their new mission: to boldly go – home.
