Director Robert C. Cooper brought us Stargate: The Ark of Truth (2008), a military science fiction film following the events of the television series Stargate SG-1. The story follows the regular cast of SG-1 as they uncover a box on Dakara that they believe to be the Ark of Truth. However, their discovery is interrupted by Ori soldiers led by Tomin. Despite Daniel’s clever trick, the box is revealed to be a fake. Tomin defies orders from the Prior and refuses to kill SG-1, prompting Mitchell to eliminate the Prior with an Anti-Prior device. With their leader dead, the Ori soldiers surrender and Tomin agrees to return to Earth with SG-1 for a period of time. Back at the SGC, General Landry and Mitchell meet IOA representative James Marrick, who has taken over for Richard Woolsey, now working with the Atlantis Expedition.
Upon realizing that the Ark is still in the Ori galaxy, Daniel Jackson must team up with Marrick for a journey onboard the Odyssey through the Supergate. Once in the Ori galaxy, a member of the anti-Ori resistance informs the team about a legend stating that the Ark is located on Celestis, the capital of the Ori. Upon beaming down to the planet, Marrick activates the Asgard computer core which ultimately draws attention from the Ori to their ship’s whereabouts. After Major Kevin Marks brings to light what is occurring, Mitchell and Carter promptly return to the Odyssey where they discover that Marrick has used the core to construct a Replicator with plans to implant it on an Ori vessel and allow it to replicate throughout their entire fleet. Despite Mitchell’s attempt to destroy it using an anti-Replicator Gun, his efforts are in vain as Marrick reveals that the IOA had removed this weakness from its design.
