Superman & Lois (2021 — 2024)
Superman & Lois (2021–2024), an American series on The CW, was created by Todd Helbing and Greg Berlanti, inspired by the iconic DC Comics characters Superman and Lois Lane from Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. In its first season, the show was meant to join the Arrowverse’s Earth-Prime as a spin-off of Supergirl. The lead actors, Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, reprised their respective roles from Supergirl and The Flash following the backdoor pilot in the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. However, due to pandemic-related cancellations of crossovers with Supergirl and Batwoman, showrunner Todd Helbing and Warner Bros. decided to establish a separate continuity for the series on its own distinct Earth rather than within the Arrowverse’s Earth-Prime. This was officially announced in the finale of its second season.
During the first season, Clark Kent / Superman and Lois Lane return to Smallville, along with their sons Jonathan and Jordan. There, they are reunited with Lana Lang, her husband Kyle Cushing, and their daughter Sarah. Their peaceful existence is disturbed by the arrival of The Stranger and Morgan Edge’s secret experiments. In the second season, Superman’s disturbing visions lead to an encounter with Bizarro and clashes with Lt. General Mitch Anderson. Also during this time, Lois must confront the Inverse Method cult led by Ally Allston who influenced Lucy Lane to join them. This situation also brings about an enemy in Bizarro due to their supposed conquest of his world. As for the third season, Superman must face off against the schemes of Intergang while Lois battles Stage 3 inflammatory breast cancer. After Peia Mannheim’s death and Bruno Mannheim’s surrender, Lex Luthor is released from prison when it is revealed that he was set up for killing Boss Moxie. Now free, he sets his sights on seeking revenge against Superman and Lois Lane with a resurrected Bizarro in tow.
