Swedish Dicks (2016–2018) is a comedic web series with an American-Swedish twist, brought to life by creators Peter Stormare, Glenn Lund, Peter Settman, and Andrew Lowery. The story centers around two Swedish private investigators navigating life in Los Angeles. Originally released on Viaplay on September 2, 2016, the show later aired on the Pop television network in the US on August 9th, 2017. Lionsgate Television also distributed it globally. Season two premiered on December 25th, 2017 in Northern Europe and later in the US during 2018. In this season, Ingmar and Axel have established themselves as reputable PIs and are now considering becoming officially licensed detectives. However, this poses a problem for Axel as he is an undocumented immigrant. While tackling new high-profile cases and facing off against their rival Jane McKinney once again, they must also find a solution to Axel’s visa issue before they become known as Swedish Dick once more.

In 2014, Peter Stormare conceived the idea for Swedish Dicks. Initially envisioned as a one-hour drama, he shared the script with Peter Settman, who suggested it would work better as an ongoing series. Drawing from his own experiences with close friends who had become private investigators – one ex-military and the other an ex-stuntman – Stormare wrote and announced the show in November 2015, with both himself and Johan Glans confirmed to star. Later, in March 2016, it was revealed that Keanu Reeves and Traci Lords had also joined the cast. Stormare specifically wrote the role of Jane McKinney for Lords, whom he felt a strong connection to after admiring her resilience in her book about survival. Lords described Jane as a woman who is confident in her femininity and enjoys playing with men, but believes she has the most power in any situation.
