Takers (2010)
Takers (2010) is an American heist action thriller film directed by John Luessenhop. Detectives Jack Welles and Eddie Hatcher are on the case of a bold robbery orchestrated by a well-organized group. Led by Gordon Cozier, the team includes John, A.J., and brothers Jake and Jesse Attica. Notably missing from the group is former member Ghost, who had been caught during a previous heist five years ago. During his absence, Jake had started a relationship with Ghost’s ex-girlfriend Lilly, who has now accepted his proposal for marriage. After Ghost’s release from prison, he joins forces with the crew to plan their next big score. They discover that two armored trucks will be traveling together, but all the money – a whopping $12 million – will be in the first truck.
Disguised as construction workers, the crew takes refuge underground. Meanwhile, Ghost masquerades as a police officer to monitor the approaching trucks. In case Ghost is double-crossing them, John positions himself on top of a nearby garage with a sniper rifle. The plan is to trigger the explosion when the trucks pass overhead, causing them to crash into the crater below. However, an unexpected cyclist causes the lead truck to halt abruptly and sets off the explosives prematurely. The panicked lead driver alerts the authorities over the radio while armed guards emerge from the back truck. Amidst gunfire between the robbers in the crater and the guards on the street, John seizes control of the back truck and rams it into the lead one, sending it tumbling into the cavern created by their tunneling efforts.
