Tango & Cash (1989)
Tango & Cash (1989), an American buddy cop action comedy film, features Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell as the titular characters. Directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, the movie follows two top detectives from different sides of Los Angeles – Lieutenants Raymond Tango of the Westside and Gabriel Cash of the Eastside. Both hailed for their successes in the Narcotics Division, these intense rivals have never met but believe themselves to be superior. However, little do they know that their recent drug busts have caught the attention of Yves Perret and his criminal organization. Seeking revenge, Perret hatches a plan to frame them for murder instead of risking turning them into martyrs by killing them.
Separately informed of a drug deal, Tango and Cash unexpectedly cross paths. Discovering a wiretapped corpse of an undercover FBI agent, they are soon surrounded by additional agents led by Wyler who accuse them of murder. During the trial, an audio tape allegedly capturing the pair discussing a drug purchase and then shooting the agent is presented as evidence against them, confirmed by audio expert Skinner. In light of this incriminating proof, Tango and Cash opt to plead no contest to a lesser charge in exchange for shorter sentences in a minimum-security prison; however, they are ultimately placed in a maximum-security facility alongside several criminals they had previously apprehended.
