Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) is a science fiction action film directed by James Cameron, who also co-wrote the script with William Wisher. The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth of 2029, where a vicious battle rages between Skynet, an evil artificial intelligence, and the human resistance. In a desperate move, Skynet sends back an advanced liquid metal Terminator known as the T-1000 to eliminate resistance leader John Connor in his childhood. To save him, the resistance sends back a reprogrammed T-800 Terminator covered in synthetic flesh. In 1995 Los Angeles, John’s mother Sarah is locked up at Pescadero State Hospital for her violent attempts to prevent ‘Judgment Day’ – the predicted events of August 29, 1997 that will lead to Skynet gaining consciousness and initiating a deadly nuclear war.

John, who is living with foster parents, views Sarah as delusional and resents her attempts to prepare him for his future role. The T-1000 locates John in a shopping mall but the T-800 intervenes, aiding John’s escape. John tries to warn his foster parents but the T-800 realizes they have already been killed by the T-1000. Knowing that the T-800 follows his orders, John instructs it not to harm anyone and instead save Sarah from the T-1000. Together, they intercept Sarah during a failed attempt at escaping but she becomes frightened when she sees that the T-800 bears a striking resemblance to the Terminator sent to kill her in 1984. With persuasion from both John and the T-800, Sarah decides to join them in their escape from the pursuing T-1000. Despite her initial apprehension towards the T-800, Sarah begins to see it as a friend and father figure to John during their journey.
