The 355 (2022)
The upcoming action spy film, The 355 (2022), helmed by director Simon Kinberg and written by Theresa Rebeck and Kinberg, follows the story of a group of individuals embroiled in an intense race for a special decryption program drive. This sought-after drive, capable of accessing any digital system on Earth, is presented to criminal mastermind Elijah Clarke by a drug lord at a location 150 mi (240 km) south of Bogotá, Colombia. However, Clarke’s betrayal leads to chaos as he kills the drug lord just as authorities raid the mansion. Amidst the commotion, Colombian DNI agent Luis Rojas obtains the device and CIA operative Mason “Mace” Brown is assigned to procure it from him. Accompanied by her loyal partner Nick Fowler, who harbors romantic feelings for her, Mace sets off to Paris for the deal. But things take a turn when German undercover BND agent Marie Schmidt steals the money bag during the exchange. As Mace chases Marie through the subway system, Nick finds himself in a dangerous confrontation with Clarke in an alleyway.
CIA headquarters briefs Mace on the discovery of Nick’s body in an alley. Her superior, Larry Marks, gives her permission to retrieve the drive using any means necessary. Mace travels to London to enlist retired British MI6 operative Khadijah Adiyeme, a longtime friend. Rojas sets up a meeting for Graciela Rivera, a DNI psychologist with no field experience, to hand over the drive. Pushed by her boss, Jonas Muller, Marie reluctantly agrees to go after the drive; he reminds her of her father’s betrayal as a senior BND agent who she personally turned in as a Russian mole. Mace and Khadijah locate Luis and Graciela at a market, only for the DNI agent overseeing the exchange to betray them and kill Luis. Before his death, Luis passes off a phone that only Graciela can unlock and use to track the drive.
