The American television sitcom, The Big Bang Theory (2007–2019), was created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady who both served as executive producers and head writers, along with Steven Molaro. Running for 12 seasons and 279 episodes, it aired on CBS from September 24, 2007 to May 16, 2019. Produced by Chuck Lorre Productions and Warner Bros. Television, the show was filmed in front of a live audience. While its first season received mixed reviews, subsequent seasons were met with more favorable reception. In fact, seven of the seasons were ranked within the top ten final season ratings and ultimately reached the no. 1 spot in its eleventh season. The show was also recognized with numerous Emmy nominations and awards, including four wins for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Jim Parsons and a Golden Globe win for Best Actor in a Television Comedy Series in 2011.
Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, two brilliant physicists employed at Cal Tech in Pasadena, California, share a close bond as colleagues, best friends, and roommates. However, their relationship is constantly tested by Sheldon’s meticulous and unconventional approach to life. Howard Wolowitz, a mechanical engineer, and Rajesh Koothrappali, an astrophysicist, are also part of their social circle at Cal Tech. Together as a foursome, they spend their time working on individual projects, playing video games, indulging in science-fiction movies or comic books. Being self-professed nerds, they have little success with romantic pursuits. But when Penny – a charming aspiring actress from Omaha – moves into the apartment across from Leonard and Sheldon’s place, Leonard finds himself drawn to her with the desire to make her his girlfriend.
