After narrowly escaping from Russia, former CIA agent Jason Bourne’s absence catches the attention of Operation Outcome, leading agent Aaron Cross to be sent on a training mission in the harsh Alaskan wilderness as punishment for his unauthorized actions. As he treks through unforgiving terrain, Cross finds himself pursued by a pack of wolves. Seeking refuge at a secluded cabin, he discovers that it is already occupied by another disgraced Outcome agent known as Number Three. Desperate to maintain his enhanced abilities, Cross fabricates a story about losing his necessary medication dog tags known as ‘chems’.
Colonel Eric Byer is tasked with containing the aftermath of Pam Landy’s revelation of Operations Treadstone and Blackbriar. His team discovers incriminating videos online featuring Treadstone and Outcome medical directors, Albert Hirsch and Dan Hillcott, together. In order to safeguard other covert programs, Byer orders for the immediate termination of Operation Outcome and eliminates all agents and participating doctors involved. To take care of Cross and Number Three in Alaska, Byer deploys an armed drone. Despite killing Number Three with a missile, Cross manages to survive and takes down the drone using a rifle to remove a subdermal tracking implant on his hip.
