The Brothers Grimsby (2016)
The film The Brothers Grimsby (2016) is a hilarious blend of spy action and comedy, directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Sacha Baron Cohen, Phil Johnston, and Peter Baynham. The main character, Kyle Alan ‘Nobby’ Butcher, had been estranged from his younger brother Sebastian for almost three decades. During their time apart, Nobby became a hard-drinking football hooligan who settled down with his girlfriend Dawn and their 11 children in Grimsby. Meanwhile, Sebastian – now known as Sebastian Graves – rose through the ranks to become one of MI6’s top agents. When Sebastian receives intel about a potential assassination at the WorldCure benefit being hosted by philanthropist Rhonda George, he is assigned to attend. Coincidentally, Nobby’s pub friends learn that his brother will also be there and convince Nobby to join him in hopes of reconciling their relationship. While at the event, Sebastian spots hitman Pavel Lukashenko who plans to carry out the assassination using a gun disguised as a video camera.
As Sebastian prepares to take aim at the camera, Nobby embraces him, causing an unintentional shot that strikes a boy named Schlomo, who is both Jewish and Palestinian and has AIDS. Daniel Radcliffe’s mouth comes into contact with the blood spray, resulting in his infection with the disease. The siblings then flee from law enforcement and other criminals. Despite Sebastian’s objections, Nobby convinces him to seek refuge at their childhood home in Grimsby. In the meantime, MI6 assumes Sebastian has gone rogue and dispatches assassin Chilcott to pursue him. Growing increasingly desperate, Sebastian contacts his handler Jodie to proclaim his innocence. Chilcott traces them to a pub where they narrowly escape; unfortunately, Sebastian suffers injuries from two Lonomia poison darts in his shoulder and testicle.
