The Collection (2012)

The Collection (2012), an American horror film directed by Marcus Dunstan and co-written with Patrick Melton, follows the story of teenager Elena Peters and her friends, Missy and Josh, as they attend a party. After witnessing her boyfriend Brian with another woman, Elena retreats to an isolated room where she discovers Arkin trapped in a box. Carefully opening the latches, she frees him just as a series of traps are activated at the party, resulting in the deaths of many attendees. Amidst the chaos, Brian attempts to flee but is ultimately killed while Elena looks on in terror. Desperately trying to save Missy and others from being crushed by an elevator, Elena is unsuccessful and ultimately becomes the Collector’s next target. Meanwhile, Arkin manages to escape by jumping out of a window onto a car and breaking his arm in the process.

After being taken to the hospital and arrested by the police, Arkin is haunted by nightmares of his brutal torture at the hands of the Collector. However, he is soon approached by Lucello, an employee of Elena’s wealthy father. Lucello has enlisted a team of mercenaries to track down the Collector and rescue Elena. In exchange for leading them to the Collector’s hidden location, Lucello hints that he can clear Arkin’s record. Reluctantly, Arkin agrees and leads the group to an abandoned hotel where the Collector is hiding out. Meanwhile, Elena manages to break free from the trunk she was locked in and witnesses a man being tortured before escaping. As soon as the mercenaries arrive at the hotel, Arkin hesitates to go inside, but Lucello forces him at gunpoint to act as their guide through the building.
