The Conjuring 2 (2016)

The Conjuring 2 (2016) is an American supernatural horror film is directed by James Wan. In the infamous Amityville home, Ed and Lorraine Warren are joined by the Lutz family. The Lutz family claims to have been experiencing paranormal activity after Ronald DeFeo, Jr. murdered his family a year prior with a shotgun. During a seance led by the Warrens, Lorraine has a vision of herself in Ronald’s position on the night of the murders. She witnesses herself committing the heinous acts on both Ronald’s parents and three siblings. A terrifying encounter with a demonic nun follows, along with witnessing a man’s death. Overcome with fear, Lorraine screams and is comforted by Ed as he pulls her out of the vision. In Enfield, England, three years later. Janet Hodgson sits outside the school with her friend Camilla while she enjoys a cigarette. Just as she passes it to Janet, a teacher emerges and reprimands the girls for smoking. She confiscates the cigarette and takes a puff.

Life at home for Janet is not easy – she lives with her older sister Margaret, younger brothers Johnny and Billy, and their mother Peggy. The Hodgsons are facing financial struggles after their father left them for a neighbor woman. On top of that, Billy is often bullied at school due to his speech impediment. Peggy also has doubts about her abilities as a single parent. One night, as Janet and Margaret lay in bed, Janet begins to feel an unsettling presence in the room. It’s as if she’s speaking to herself, but then another voice responds in a growling tone, claiming “This is my house!” Margaret initially thinks it’s just Janet fooling around until she stands by Margaret’s bedside and an older male voice echoes the same statement.
