The End of the F***ing World (2017 — 2019)
The British black comedy-drama television show, The End of the F***ing World (2017–2019), premiered its first episode on Channel 4 in the UK on 24 October 2017. The remaining episodes were released on All 4, while Netflix handled international distribution and released it globally on 5 January 2018. The inspiration for the series came from Forsman’s mini-comics, which were later compiled into a book in 2013. After contacting Forsman about creating a film adaptation, Entwistle made a short film in 2014. However, it is no longer available online. Instead, an eight-part series was commissioned and began filming in April 2017. Charlie Covell wrote the series, with Entwistle and Lucy Tcherniak directing the episodes. In August 2018, a second season was confirmed and premiered on Channel 4 on 4 November 2019. It was then released on All 4 and Netflix the next day. Despite its success, Covell has stated that there are no plans for a third season. Follow teen outsiders James and Alyssa as they embark on a road trip to find Alyssa’s long-lost father in this award-winning adaptation of Charles Forsman
In the second season after her introduction, Bonnie’s difficult mother greatly influenced her anti-social behaviour. Despite her failed exams, she obtains a position at a university library, posing as a student. Her infatuation with philosophy professor Dr. Clive Koch leads to her discovery and subsequent ban from his class. In response, she defaces his book and poster with faeces, which he pardons by allowing her back in his class. This ultimately leads to a sexual relationship between the two; however, Bonnie is disappointed when Koch does not return her feelings. She later catches him with another female student at his house, prompting him to falsely accuse the student of trying to ruin his life. Seeking revenge, Bonnie uses her car to fatally strike the student. During her time in prison, Bonnie receives a message from Koch through a book, declaring his love for her after the killing. Upon sending him a letter, she discovers that Koch has died two years prior. After serving her sentence and being released from prison, Bonnie seeks retribution against Alyssa and James.
