The American mystery thriller film, The General’s Daughter (1999), was helmed by director Simon West. During his time in Georgia, undercover agent Chief Warrant Officer Paul Brenner from the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division Command assumes the identity of First Sergeant Frank White to orchestrate a forbidden weapons exchange with a rebel leader. While at Fort MacCallum, Brenner experiences car trouble and receives assistance from Captain Elisabeth Campbell, who serves as a psychological operations officer and is also the daughter of Lieutenant General Joseph ‘Fighting Joe’ Campbell, the base commander. Tragically, she is found murdered the following night. To secure the crime scene, Colonel William Kent, the base provost marshal, takes charge. In response to this heinous crime, Brenner and specialized rape investigator Warrant Officer Sara Sunhill are summoned to conduct an investigation.

After receiving Elisabeth’s records, Brenner and Sunhill notice a significant drop in her grades during her second year at West Point. Despite Brenner’s desire to search Elisabeth’s off-base house, Kent rejects the idea due to it being outside of their jurisdiction. However, upon picking the lock of the house, they discover a room filled with video and BDSM equipment before being attacked by an intruder who removes the tapes. In light of this new information, they decide to question Colonel Robert Moore, but his evasive responses lead to his arrest for conduct unbecoming an officer. Later on, Sunhill and Brenner are both targeted in an attempt to intimidate them at the crime scene. During the attack, Sunhill takes note of one assailant wearing a silver claddagh ring, whom she identifies as Captain Jake Elby.
