The Gilded Age (2022 — 2024)
The Gilded Ae (2022–2024) is an American historical drama television series created and written by Julian Fellowes for HBO that takes place during the titular era, the boom years of the 1880s in New York City. Originally announced in 2018 for NBC, it was later announced in May 2019 that the show had been moved to HBO. The show premiered on January 24, 2022.
In 1882, a young woman enters New York City’s strict social scene and becomes entangled in the ongoing disputes between the nouveau riche Russell family and the established van Rhijn-Brook family. These two families reside on neighboring blocks of 61st Street near Fifth Avenue, situated on Manhattan’s coveted Upper East Side. Along with these rivalries, the show also delves into the challenges faced by various social groups including the upper class, upper middle class, Black elite, and their domestic workers.
