The Good Dinosaur (2015)

An animated adventure film The Good Dinosaur (2015), created by Pixar Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, presents an alternate history in which the asteroid that would have wiped out the dinosaurs passes harmlessly by Earth. In present day, Apatosaurus farmers Henry and Ida are raising their three children: Libby, Buck, and Arlo. While his siblings thrive in their tasks of leaving a mark on the family’s corn silo, Arlo struggles due to his timid nature. In an attempt to give him purpose, Henry entrusts Arlo with guarding the silo and helps him set a trap. Despite capturing a feral caveboy, Arlo cannot bring himself to harm him and sets him free. This disappoints Henry who then leads Arlo on a journey to track down the caveboy in a ravine. Amidst a flash flood, Henry sacrifices himself to save Arlo before being killed by falling debris.
Without his father, Arlo takes on a heavier workload. He discovers the same caveboy inside the silo and begins to blame him for his father’s passing. In pursuit of the boy, both are swept away by a river for miles. After being knocked unconscious by a rock, Arlo wakes up deep in the wilderness. As he tries to make his way back, his leg becomes trapped under a boulder. The following day, Arlo finds that his leg has been freed and is surprised to see the caveboy approaching with food. With the caveboy’s guidance, Arlo discovers a berry tree. During their time together, Spot impresses both Arlo and Forrest Woodbush, an eccentric Styracosaurus who wants to keep Spot as his own. To determine a name for the boy, Woodbush challenges Arlo to a competition which Arlo ultimately wins by calling him ‘Spot’. As they spend more time together, Arlo and Spot form a bond and reveal that they have both lost their families – Arlo through death and Spot through unknown circumstances.
