The Huntsman: Winter’s War (2016) is an American fantasy action-adventure film that serves as both a prequel and sequel to Snow White & the Huntsman (2012). Queen Ravenna’s evil sorcery reveals her sister Freya’s involvement in an affair with engaged nobleman Andrew, despite her own powers not being fully developed. After Freya gives birth to a baby girl, she discovers that Andrew has not only broken his promise to elope with her but also murdered their child. Devastated and consumed by anger, Freya uses her newfound ability to control ice and freezes Andrew to death.
In a merciless act of disloyalty, the malevolent Queen Ravenna’s benevolent sibling, Freya, abandons love and unlocks her dormant powers. As a result, she transforms into an omnipotent Ice-Witch with an icy heart and establishes a new kingdom in the North. Her sole focus is on raising an unstoppable army of orphans from conquered lands, known as the Huntsmen. However, two valiant warriors–Eric and Sara–rise against the queen’s edict in this unfeeling realm and fall for each other. They soon face catastrophic consequences. Meanwhile, the ominous black magic within Ravenna’s enchanted gold Mirror continues to intensify. Can anything be done to halt the arrival of this relentless dark enemy?
