The In Between (2022)
The In Between (2022), an American sci-fi romance directed by Arie Posin and written by Marc Klei, begins with a traffic accident. Two young people are injured on the road – the girl barely moving and the boy motionless. After waking up in the hospital, Tessa has a flashback to 182 days prior, when she was taking photos in a coastal town and stumbled upon a classic French film playing at a local theater. At the movie, she meets Skylar, who offers to translate. Despite their different perspectives, he is a true romantic. In another flashback, set 102 days earlier, Tessa is urged to apply to RISD for her photography talents. Later on, while capturing shots at a rowing meet, she runs into Skylar once again.
They had both been searching for each other, and spent the day together. She showed him the world through her eyes. At an abandoned honeymooners hotel called the Empyrean, he taught her to waltz and they shared a kiss. He promised to return at the end of the month and stay for the summer. Currently, Tessa was back in school and was reminded of the RISD deadline. Later on, as she headed home, she discarded her developing materials. Her adoptive father commented that her mother had never been one for commitment. As she dreamed about Skylar, she woke up to see her Robert Doisneau print of Le baiser de l’hôtel de ville.
