Despite being wrongfully convicted for the murder of his brother Michael, Radcliffe is sentenced to death. In a desperate attempt to prove his innocence, Dr. Frank Griffin, brother of the original invisible man, administers an invisibility drug to Radcliffe. With his execution looming, Radcliffe mysteriously disappears from his cell. Meanwhile, Detective Sampson of Scotland Yard begins to piece together the truth while Radcliffe races against time to find the real murderer before the drug drives him mad. As it turns out, the Radcliffe family owns a mining operation where recently promoted employee Willie Spears raises suspicion in Radcliffe’s mind.
After successfully causing Spears’ car to veer off the road, she is terrified into divulging that Richard Cobb, Radcliffe’s cousin, is the culprit behind the murder. There is then a confrontation and a chase, where Sampson’s bullet hits Radcliffe. Cobb meets his demise after falling from a coal wagon, but not before confessing to the crime. Now that Radcliffe has been absolved of any guilt, he struggles with blood loss and exposure as he makes his way to Dr. Griffin. Thankfully, several of Radcliffe’s employees step up to donate blood for him, ultimately leading to a successful transfusion that brings him back into visibility. With this development, the doctor is able to perform life-saving surgery on Radcliffe.
