The Karate Kid Part II (1986) is an American martial arts drama film written by Robert Mark Kamen and directed by John G. Avildsen. Following their defeat in the 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament, a furious John Kreese attacks his student, Johnny Lawrence, in the parking lot. Miyagi steps in and nonchalantly disables Kreese before comically tweaking his nose and leaving. Humiliated, Johnny and his friends abandon Kreese and Cobra Kai. Later on, after Daniel’s senior prom, he confides in Miyagi that his girlfriend Ali has left him for a football player at UCLA. Soon after, Miyagi receives news that his father is terminally ill, prompting him to return to his hometown on Okinawa Island. There he reveals to Daniel that many years ago he had fallen for a woman named Yukie. Yukie had been set to marry Sato, the son of the wealthiest man in the village and a fellow karate student like her father.
However, when Sato learned of her intentions to marry Yukie, he challenged him to a deadly fight. In response, Miyagi chose to leave the country. Upon learning of his departure, Daniel decided to join him on his return journey to Okinawa. As they arrived, they were greeted by Chozen Toguchi, who then drove them to one of Sato’s warehouses and revealed that he was actually Sato’s nephew. Soon after, Sato himself appeared and insisted on fighting Miyagi. Despite his insistence, Miyagi refused to engage in the fight. When they finally reached the village, they were warmly welcomed by Yukie and her niece Kumiko. There, they discovered that Sato had become a successful industrialist whose large fishing vessels had devastated the local fish population and caused poverty for many villagers.
