The Lincoln Lawyer (2011)
The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), aт American legal thriller film, was adapted from Michael Connelly’s 2005 novel of the same name. Mickey Haller, a criminal defense attorney, operates out of his black Lincoln Town Car in LA County, California. Earl Briggs serves as his chauffeur. Haller’s typical clients include low-level criminals such as Eddie Vogel, the leader of a biker gang. His ex-wife, Maggie McPherson, who shares a daughter with him, is a district attorney who disapproves of his choice of clientele. Unexpectedly, Haller is hired to represent Louis Roulet, a wealthy playboy from Beverly Hills and the son of real estate mogul Mary Windsor. Roulet is accused of brutally beating prostitute Regina Campo and specifically chose Haller for his defense.
With the help of his investigator, Frank Levin, they analyze photos and evidence and uncover similarities to a previous case where another prostitute was killed. As the representative for defendant Jesus Martinez, Haller successfully persuaded him to plead guilty in order to avoid a potential death sentence. During a visit with Martinez, who vehemently maintains his innocence, Haller presents a photo of Louis Roulet. This agitates Martinez, prompting Haller to suspect that Roulet is the true culprit and had deliberately chosen him as counsel to prevent any disclosure through attorney-client confidentiality. Despite being bound by these rules, Haller instructs Levin to investigate Roulet.
