The American science fiction action film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), takes place four years after the events on Isla Nublar. A British family unknowingly anchors their yacht near the nearby Isla Sorna, which is home to genetically engineered dinosaurs. During their visit, their daughter wanders off and is attacked by a pack of Compsognathus. Dr. John Hammond, who created the dinosaurs through his company InGen, invites mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm to his residence to discuss the incident. However, following the incident, Hammond’s nephew Peter Ludlow takes over control of InGen from him. Ian discovers that besides Isla Nublar, InGen also had a facility on Isla Sorna known as ‘Site B’ where the dinosaurs were cloned. Unfortunately, due to a hurricane, the island was abandoned and the animals were left to survive on their own in the wild.
Ludlow has his sights set on utilizing the island’s creatures to rescue InGen from financial ruin. To aid in this endeavor, Hammond enlists the help of Ian to join a team tasked with observing the dinosaurs in their natural environment, with hopes of promoting a hands-off approach. Despite his initial reluctance, Ian agrees to journey to Isla Sorna when he learns that his girlfriend, renowned paleontologist Dr. Sarah Harding, is already there conducting research. Accompanied by equipment specialist and engineer Eddie Carr and video documentarian and activist Nick Van Owen, Ian sets off to retrieve Sarah. However, upon arrival, they discover that she is not interested in leaving as she is determined to continue her studies. To Ian’s surprise, he also finds that his daughter Kelly has secretly joined the team and is traveling with them in a mobile base trailer.
