The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015)
The spy film The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) was directed and co-written by Guy Ritchie, based on the 1964 television series of the same name created by Norman Felton and Sam Rolfe. In 1963, CIA-Agent Napoleon Solo is tasked with rescuing Gaby Teller, daughter of a nuclear scientist, from East Berlin. He also recruits KGB Agent Illya Kuryakin to help stop a pair of Nazi sympathizers, Alexander and Victoria Vinciguerra, who are using Teller’s father for their own nuclear weapon project. With Gaby’s uncle Rudi working for the Vinciguerras in Rome, the trio must work together to gather intel. During a scuffle with muggers, Kuryakin’s father’s watch is stolen, but he chooses not to retaliate in order to maintain his cover. While attempting to escape a Vinciguerra shipping yard with evidence of uranium, Kuryakin nearly drowns but is saved by Solo.
The following day, Gaby meets with Rudi and Alexander, betraying Kuryakin and Solo. Rudi tortures Solo, but Kuryakin comes to his rescue and retaliates by torturing Rudi. During the interrogation, Rudi discloses that the weapon is hidden in an island fortress where Gaby’s father has been reunited with her. Meanwhile, Teller finishes constructing the weapon, only to be eliminated by Victoria. While on their mission, Solo and Kuryakin are joined by Alexander Waverly, an MI6 officer who reveals that Gaby is his undercover agent. Together, they successfully infiltrate the Vinciguerras’ compound. During their search, Solo discovers Kuryakin’s missing watch on one of the guards. However, as they try to prevent Alexander from escaping with the warhead, he is ultimately killed in the process. Despite retrieving the disc containing Teller’s research, Solo learns that Victoria had already taken off with the real warhead as a decoy.
