The Matrix Reloaded (2003)

The Wachowskis’ science-fiction action film, The Matrix Reloaded (2003), continues the story of The Matrix. Neo and Trinity have now become romantically involved six months after the previous events. Morpheus receives an urgent message from Captain Niobe of the Logos for an emergency meeting among all ships in Zion. It has been discovered that an army of Sentinels is rapidly approaching Zion and will arrive in just three days. In response, Commander Lock orders all ships to return to Zion to prepare for defense. However, Morpheus requests that one ship remain behind to contact the Oracle. Inside the Matrix, the crew of this lone ship encounters a familiar face – former Agent Smith, who has copied himself into the body of crew member Bane and used a phone line to exit the Matrix. Meanwhile in Zion, Morpheus breaks the news about the approaching machines to everyone.

As preparations are underway, the Nebuchadnezzar leaves for its mission in the Matrix. There, Neo meets Seraph, bodyguard of the Oracle, who leads him to her location. The Oracle, a member of the Matrix, informs Neo that he must reach the Source by enlisting the help of the Keymaker. As she departs, Smith appears and confesses to Neo that since their previous encounter, he has become a rogue program. Smith displays his ability to replicate himself onto others in the Matrix, including upgraded Agents. He attempts to take over Neo’s body but is unsuccessful, resulting in a showdown between them. Despite defending himself, Neo is forced to retreat. Later on, Neo, Morpheus, and Trinity seek out the imprisoned Keymaker at the Merovingian’s domain. However, the Merovingian has his own agenda and refuses to release the Keymaker. Luckily, Persephone aids them in their quest for revenge against her unfaithful husband by leading them to the Keymaker’s location.
