The Mist (2017) is an American science fiction-horror thriller television series developed by Christian Torpe, based on the 1980 horror novella of the same name by author Stephen King. Airing for one 10-episode season on Spike from June 22 to August 24, 2017, it was later cancelled on September 27 of that year. An unexplained mist descends upon Bridgeville, Maine, creating a nearly impenetrable barrier and causing strange and dangerous occurrences. As the residents struggle to survive and seek shelter in a shopping mall, church, and hospital, they are confronted with apparitions from their past that can either aid or harm them based on their reactions.
Kevin Copeland, his wife Eve, and their daughter Alex reside in a small town. However, things take a deadly turn when a thick mist descends upon their community, claiming innocent lives. While Eve and Alex are trapped at the local mall, Kevin finds himself at the police station with Sheriff Connor Heisel and Adrian. Meanwhile, Connor heads to the nearby church where Nathalie Raven and Father Romanov have sought refuge with other townspeople who are also in danger. In an effort to find a solution, Kevin and Adrian release two inmates from the jail: Bryan Hunt – a paranoid soldier who witnessed the mist’s destruction and came to warn others – and Mia Lambert – an enigmatic drug addict. At the mall, Jay’s presence is a disturbing surprise for Alex.
