After their defeat, they are banished to the desert of Ahm Shere where the Scorpion King makes a desperate deal with Anubis – exchanging his soul for power to defeat his enemies. In return, Anubis conjures up an oasis and golden pyramid, along with an army of jackal-like warriors to help him conquer Egypt. However, once his purpose is served, Anubis claims his soul and sends the army back to the Underworld. In 1933 A.D., we meet Rick O’Connell and his wife Evelyn as they explore ancient ruins with their son Alex and stumble upon the Bracelet of Anubis.
In the city of London, the bracelet attaches itself to Alex and reveals visions urging him to go to Ahm Shere. While on their journey, Evelyn is captured by a cult determined to bring Imhotep back using the Book of the Dead. This group plans to use his powers to defeat the Scorpion King and gain control over Anubis’ army. The leader of this cult is Baltus Hafez, with enforcer Lock-Nah and Meela Nais, who is believed to be the reincarnation of Imhotep’s love Anck-su-namun. With the help of Evelyn’s brother Jonathan, who has obtained a mysterious golden scepter, and Medjai Ardeth Bay, the O’Connell family sets out to rescue her. After a fierce battle, Rick manages to free Evelyn, but their son Alex is then taken hostage by the cult who force him to utilize his visions from the bracelet for their own gain.
