The Omen (2006)
The Omen (2006) is an American supernatural horror film helmed by director John Moore and penned by David Seltzer. It tells the tale of Robert Thorn, an American diplomat stationed in Italy. Upon learning that his son was stillborn, Robert secretly adopts an orphaned infant on the advice of a Catholic priest, Father Spiletto. The child, named Damien, is raised by Robert and his wife Katherine. Over the next five years, Robert’s career flourishes as he is appointed Deputy Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s in the United Kingdom. He moves into a large estate outside London after the previous ambassador dies in a suspicious vehicle fire allegedly caused by a vagrant. However, unsettling occurrences start happening, such as Damien’s nanny committing suicide after making eye contact with a black dog at his birthday party.
Robert is approached by Father Brennan, who has a connection to events surrounding Damien’s birth. At the same time, photographer Keith Jennings discovers mysterious omens in his photographs, including premonitions of death. A new nanny, Mrs. Baylock, is hired and tensions rise as she begins making decisions without consulting the Thorns. This includes getting a Rottweiler for Damien’s protection. After an incident where Damien attacks Katherine near a chapel, she starts having intense dreams about her son, one of which involves a red-hooded jackal skeleton. During a visit to the zoo, the animals react violently upon seeing Damien.
