The Other Guys (2010) is a buddy cop comedy directed by Adam McKay, who also co-wrote the script with Chris Henchy. The film follows the story of two officers from NYPD – Allen Gamble, a mild-mannered forensic accountant, and Terry Hoitz, a hot-tempered detective. Terry earned the infamous nickname “Yankee Clipper” after mistakenly shooting Derek Jeter during the World Series, leading to him being paired with Allen as his partner. However, they receive little respect from their fellow officers, especially detectives Martin and Fosse. The rest of the precinct looks up to detectives Chris Danson and P.K. Highsmith, known as New York City’s top cops despite their tendency to cause major damage while apprehending petty criminals. In one incident, they tragically plunge to their deaths while trying to ‘aim for the bushes’, something they had successfully done in previous life-threatening situations.

Allen and Terry are on a mission to investigate a permit violation by Sir David Ershon, a wealthy British businessman. However, their investigation takes an unexpected turn when they uncover a larger scheme involving Ershon trying to recoup losses for his client, Lendl Global. To make matters worse, Lendl’s CEO Pamela Boardman has hired mercenaries led by Roger Wesley to ensure that Ershon pays her back. Seeking some respite from the case, Terry and Allen retreat to Allen’s home where they discuss the details over dinner with Sheila, Allen’s wife. In order to gather crucial evidence for the police, they pay a visit to Allen’s ex-girlfriend Christinith and her husband. But things take an awkward turn when Christinith and her husband suggest that Allen should have sex with her.
